H.E. Maryam Majid Saeed Mohamed Al Shamsi

H.E. Maryam Majid Saeed Mohamed Al Shamsi serves as Chairman of the Social Services Department in Sharjah and is a Member of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah. She is also a Member of the Social Sector Committee of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council and chairs the Committee for Addressing Emergency Social Cases in the Emirate of Sharjah. Her Excellency also serves as a Member of the Permanent Committee of the Sharjah Family Development Foundation, the Sharjah Social Security Fund, the Permanent Committee for Persons Deprived of Social Care, the Crisis and Disaster Committee in the Emirate of Sharjah, and the Sharjah Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Her Excellency has worked with the Social Services Department since 2007, beginning her career at the department’s Al Hamriyah branch before progressing through several leadership positions, including Executive Director of the Branches Sector and Director of the Department, before assuming her current role as Chairman. Throughout her career, she has played leadership roles in developing several institutional committees and teams, including the Customer Experience Development Team, the Events Committee, the Social Assistance Allocation Committee, and the Risk and Business Continuity Committee. She has also represented the department on several strategic committees and contributed to Sharjah’s efforts to advance its age-friendly agenda, enhance quality of life, and improve the care and services provided to older people.

Her Excellency has also supported the department’s digital transformation and e-services development, contributing to the advancement of its systems, smart services, and institutional performance. She led the development of the department’s leadership programme and directly supervised the development of first- and second-tier leaders. In addition, she has contributed to the launch and support of several community initiatives, the enhancement of services provided by social care homes, and the advancement of corporate social responsibility initiatives.
