General Secretariat of The Executive Council
The General Secretariat of The Executive Council is responsible for organizing and coordinating the tasks of the Council to ensure the achievement of its objectives. It is also entrusted to follow-up on the resolutions issued by it until the completion of their implementation.
The General Secretariat is also responsible for preparing the Council’s agenda and arranging its sessions and all related financial and administrative affairs, in addition to coordinating with the Legal Department of the Government of Sharjah to present draft laws, decrees, resolutions, and other legislation to the Council for discussion, reviewing their final wording, and making sure of its constitutionality before submitting them to Competent Bodies. The General Secretariat also plays a major role in providing advice and technical support to the Executive Council and government agencies in order to develop their work and enable them to promote sustainable development in the emirate.
Secretary General of The Executive Council
Her Excellency Asma Rashid Sultan Bin Taliah has become the Secretary General of The Sharjah Executive Council after a long career pursued at the council. Upon her graduation, H.E. joined the General Secretariat team as an administrative assistant. Later, she got promoted to become the head of the Sessions and Members Affairs Department. She then held the office of the Governmental Development Department director before she became Assistant Secretary General.
H.E. has been conferred the evaluation certificate from the “National Assessors Training” program run by the Prime Minister’s Office. She has also joined the Executive Leadership Program for Future Leaders that was held at the College of Business Administration – Cambridge University to focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and decision-making.
H.E. Asma Rashid Sultan Bin Taliah holds a B.A. in Information Systems Administration and Marketing from the University of Sharjah and later was conferred a degree in Executive Master Business Administration from the same university.

Assistant Secretary General of The Executive Council
His Excellency Ahmed Hamad Rashid Matar Al Suwaidi, Assistant Secretary General of The Sharjah Executive Council, is one of the young Emirati competencies in Sharjah. He has formerly held various leadership positions in private entities as well as governmental and semi-governmental institutions belonging to various sectors; these include: quality, process engineering, human resources and institutional communication
H.E. has worked in the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Sharjah Islamic Bank; and, for eight years, he has been Institutional Communication Director at The Executive Office of Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi. He contributed to the establishment of “Ebda” program, which aims to qualify and train young Emiratis and develop their managerial and leadership skills in the cultural work sphere. H.E. has also been part of the 2019 Sharjah World Book Capital team since the file was submitted to the UNESCO until the title was won.
H.E. Al Suwaidi holds a B.A. in Communication from the University of Sharjah.
