Her Excellency Afaf Ibrahim Salem Bin Taleb Al Marri

Her Excellency Afaf Ibrahim Salem Bin Taleb Al Marri is the head of the Sharjah Social Services Department, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work, head of the Higher Committee for Volunteering in Sharjah, member and rapporteur of the Permanent Committee for People missing social care in Sharjah, and member of the (Madinaty/ My city gets prepared) Initiative Committee. She was chosen to be a member of the Permanent Committee for care for the children deprived from social care in Sharjah (2006-2020).

Since assuming the presidency of the department, H.E. has contributed to the launch and establishment of many pilot projects, which are: launching the social professions licensing project in the Emirate and the establishment of the Sharjah Volunteer Center. Additionally, H.E. contributed to preparing for Sharjah’s joining the global membership as an age friendly city project, the establishment of the Emirates Association For Retired Citizens, the establishment of 8 branches of the social services department all over the emirate, the establishment of woman protection center, the establishment of Dar Al Aman for caring for children of female inmates of the penal and correctional institutions in Sharjah, Al Rushd Oasis for sheltering and following up the psychiatric patients and people of determination, the Children Social Care Home, mobile units for caring for the elderly and the psychiatric and mental patients and the child help line.

H.E. Afaf Ibrahim Salem Bin Taleb Al Marri holds a B.A. degree in Business Administration from the UAE University and an Executive Master in Business Administration degree from the Sharjah University. H.E. co-authored a book entitled “The First Antiques Directory for the Islamic Museum” with Othman Vidan. The book was published by the Culture & Media Department.
